Kentucky Blows Out LSU Behind DeMarcus Cousins, 6 February 2010

The LSU Tigers (9-13, 0-8 SEC) have not won a basketball game in the SEC this year and today did not look to be their first win.  The Kentucky Wildcats (21-1, 6-1 SEC) started the game slowly, but quickly turned it around and exploded against LSU.  DeMarcus Cousins (UK) continued his dominance in the paint, scoring 15 points and grabbing 9 rebounds in the first half.    Patrick Patterson added 8 points and 3 rebounds in the first half as the Wildcats dominated the paint and had a +17 rebounding advantage at half-time.   LSU could only muster up 14 points in the first half on 6 of 32 shooting for a field goal percentage of 19%.   The score at the half was 42-14 in favor of the Kentucky Wildcats.

The LSU Tigers started the second half strong, but was unable to do any damage and could not cut into the lead by any significant amount.  The Wildcats held a comfortable lead the whole game, but did slack off a bit in the second half.  The final score of the basketball game was 81-55 in favor of the Kentucky Wildcats.

DeAndre Liggins - 7 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist (4 turnovers)
Daniel Orton - 5 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block
Ramon Harris - 5 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal, 1 assist

The Kentucky Wildcats finished the game with a +24 rebounding edge, including +10 rebounding on the offensive end.  The Wildcats also had 12 assists, 8 steals, and 7 blocks, but did turn the ball over 15 times.  Overall, a good performance for the Kentucky Wildcats.  The Wildcats’ next game is on Tuesday, 9 February, 2010 at 9:00 p.m. (EST) against the Alabama Crimson Tide in Rupp Arena.
